HYGIENE PROPOSALS  (2006)
Introduction:

With the goal of preventing re-infection, hygienic measures must go above and beyond the conventional measures used with scabies and other known parasitic infestations. The survivability of this parasites, especially its fibers or spores can take years.

This can account for the daily re-infections that we see occurring beyond the period of infestation. Packaging cleaned articles of clothing in a plastic bag for a few weeks, is of no avail. Even if the plastic bag is a vacuumed bag (no oxygen), it will hold in moisture in its environment.

A humid environment is a favorable life climate for the Morgellons organisms. And, regardless if the original protoplasm is drying out, the infestation may still last longer if some next generations (spores) are produced in the bag which can be by the moment inactive, but getting again active much later on by skin contact (sweat related infection).

Some of these involved fibers or spores can even support extreme higher temperatures before drying or burning. Therefore, using the hottest water temperature in laundering the clothes, will have no effect on these parasites. They rather need approximately 3-6 hours (or over night) to remain completely submerged in special chemical wash. Soaking laundry with citric acid or salt don`t work!

Enviromental Cleansing:

It takes extreme diligence and discipline to successfully remove parasites from the living environment. Additionally, cleaning the environment must be done with caution. A gust of wind can re-distribute the spores back into the already cleaned areas (use paper towels).

You can also use, sometimes, the expencieve Swiffer towels which are electrostatically charged/loaded and therefore they can attract dust particles but also these fibers. Or use this Electrostatically-charged dust collection grid which traps particles & pollutants like a magnet.

You can also use a negative ionic generator as the Heaven Fresh Ionic Air Purifier which can also purify the air from pathogens and attract with its needles dust and plastic fibers. Also UVC lights are a good idea to clean the environment and clothing from pathogens. Costs may vary for each device between 50- 200 U.S. Dollar. Both devices are sold also, as two in one device, e.g. on the canadian site www.heavenfresh.com

A renewed infestation from the carpet is rare, unless one walks around barefoot. The same can be said for a renewed infestation from the bed or mattress. While in bed, the host body works rather electrostatically, particullary the hairs which attracts all fibers etc.; leaving just a few fibers or none remaining in the bed. As more you wash your laundry (even yourself), as more these fungal-bacterial parasites do grow!! They do need moisture or water and proteins to survive.

Therefore, a daily linen change is unnecessary (perhaps just the pillow covers). Rather change bed sheets only weekly, instead daily, rather iron mattresses or sheets. Run a hot iron (without steam); very slowly over the linen or spray over it with some alcoholic sprays or with enzymes and vacuum then. And, instead of purchasing a new mattress, the available mattress can be also covered in plastic.

Disinfect with disinfection or alcoholic sprays all articles inside your home and your car and your office space too. Also cedar or coconut oil (caprilic acid) in a spray bottle may help a bit for your environment. A renewed infestation is more likely with the computer mouse and keyboard, pencils, remote controls, the coffee machine, the various grasps and handles in the home, the car interior, especially the seat belts, and from underwear and clothing. A fat and sweat layer of the fingers, leaved on these inert objects, guarantees a food supply for the parasites; for a certain length of time.

Keep in mind, as it is only logical, that the longer the infestation time, the greater the contamination of one's living environment. The living environment will be contaminated with sticking eggs, fiber spores or biofilm. These contaminants will unknowingly and unconsciously be spread everywhere.

Frequent handwashing must be maintained from this point forward. Use paper towels instead of cotton towels; also exchanging often table-ware, sponges used for cleaning etc., or treat them, when they are still wet, for a few minutes in the microwave after usage. Clean environment always with paper towels and vacuum frequently and slowly also inside shoes, bed and furniture, etc. and change the dust bag once every week or two. Vacuum bags should be disposed !!

Try to avoid the re-infection of clothes and bed linens with measures described above. Discipline, perseverance and good hygienic conditions are required for success against these parasites. As well as the proper medications (antibiotics, anti-fungals, anti-parasitical, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, detox, etc.) to treat internally and treat externally with effective creams etc.

The most important thing to remember is to remain calm (use relexants) since getting upset lowers your immune system and does increase the typical skin symptoms. Getting upset is not only a waste of time, but dangerous as well since neurological damage can occur if you place yourself in to a state of constant panic. Even when you are visiting your physician this nervous manner can be mistaken for DOP or a psycho illness!!

To clean up clothes and environment you can try also an UVC light to kill mites, bugs and germs etc.

Laundry:

Soak if possible your bed sheets soft in a bath tub or in your washing machine (stop the program) over night (or 4-5 hours) with anti-germal detergents. Extreme clean, ODOBAN, CLEAN-FREE, Vanish OXI-Clean hygiene, Hydrogen peroxide (35 %) or special enzyme detergents.

You can try also Sporicidin (mold remediators/bath) or other anti-fungal/anti-bacterial detergents, or hydrogen peroxide and colloidal silver wash products, or you can try the DSP-Stardust Crystals.

Old clothes same wash procedure, if you can`t get them clean yet, let them well drain and pack them away at this moment and buy new cloth (the cheapest) meanwhile.

Keep ALL carefully washed clothing and bedding seperate from any clothing that has been worn or is laying on furniture or the floor, etc.

The longer the infestation lasts, the greater the number of clothing items that will be rendered useless for wear during this time. Feather pillows are the worst case because feathers are biological material which could be a source of survival for any parasite.

Use a plastic covered bed and hypoallergenic zippered pillowcases filled up with fiber softballs etc. (no feather pillows), if your bed is a BIG problem try first HOT ironing mattresses and even couches and cover later with a thicker plastic foil.

Personal hygiene:

Longer underwear in the initial heavy stage of infection may be recommended or use a paper/wax overall (without any underwear underneath) for preventing reinfestation and contamination of the enviroment and can reduce the chance of an abrasion. For footware, any type of plastic shoes/sandals, which can be rinsed off in hot water; at any time, are the best choice.

You can also try to wear special Crocs -- they have their patented material called Croslite that contains a silver additive that makes it antibacterial and antifungal. Wear rather polyester or silver impregnated shirts etc. to prevent a settlement due to organic material, such as cotton.

The cloth fibers (cotton) might also serve for food, since anything of biological origin may serve as nutrition for these fungal-bacterial life forms. Different manifestations, as eggs, fibers and biofilm are heavily concentrated in the underwear, as well as many in the skin crusts.

Shower rather than having a bath; washing oneself firmly and thoroughly and try not to use your cotton towels during infestation. Follow with a hard after-shower because parasites can get caught in the distal skin areas. Shower rather once daily than twice, because as more water you may use as more this fungus (mold) get active.

Afterward, dry and apply antifungal/antibacterial cream or DSP cream, in sections and in an orderly fashion, so as to avoid rearrangement of the parasites. Wash hands before, during and after creaming. Begin applying cream to the least infested areas first, so as to prevent re-infection on free areas.

In treating a cutaneous infestation of the organisms, one should treat a wide skin surface area. The manifestations of the fungus that may be visible in a certain area, for example, the neck, the hairline and behind the ear, can actually be on the entire body surface and subcutaneously (biofilm/protoplasm). Treating in the beginning just the neck, hairline and behind the ear would be not so effective.

Short nails and hair are preferred. Shaving all bodyhairs means a reduced settlement of the fungal biofilm on the hairs (even nosehairs). Avoid habits such as touching the face or eyes with the fingers, playing with the hair, putting fingers in the mouth, nosepicking, etc.

Avoid skin to skin contact with yourself (auto re-infection) and between you and other individuals. Try to avoid entertaining (visitors) at your home for the next time. Avoid face and body massages and try not doing normally things like boring inside or picking at the nose, ears and skin. Try to avoid placing your fingers in your mouth or somewhere else (applies also to the lower areas).

The fungus or fungus-like organism react sensitively to sharp smells, such as anis, garlic, mustard, clove or peppermint oil. But this method, to treat the infestation with essential oils alone, is not sufficient to kill the fungus at all. A few remaining spores, fibers, or protoplasm particles can restart the whole process with a increased reproduction.

It is impossible to transform a living environment into a sterile field, no matter how many plastic wraps, cleaning solutions and rubber gloves one uses. Because of the survivability of the parasites, with possible re-infection, the length of infestation can be constantly extended. This can occur, despite one maintaining hygienic conditions in the environment.

It is a fallacy to think that the parasites are only on or under the skin located, or just getting the environment as hygienic as possible will prevent re-infection through external objects from the environment, both instances are always possible.

This infection and contamination of the environment occurs daily and repeatedly. More often than one might think. It is common to be covered completely or partially with a honey-like layer on the skin. (protoplasm/biofilm). Whatever you touch becomes contaminated with that sticky biofilm.

Therefore, one should think of this illness in the same manner that one thinks of a typical mold infestation at home, which also increase daily if this condition is ignored or treated halfheartedly. Instead of denying the parasite's existence, when not visible, one should consider, always, the possibility that there are spores etc. on the fingers, or elsewhere on the body.
